The focus of the workshop was to re-examine and re-address with scientific evidence the role of education and training for the trade unionists of the public sector today. The new conditions for the employees in the public sector, the technological innovation and the restructuring of the workplaces, as well as the pressure for more flexibility in work and the privatisations of the public goods, set the new stakes for the agenda of the trade union movement. The main issues discussed during the workshop were: What is going to be the updated role of the trade unions of the public servants? And, what is the role of trade union education and training in the new globalised world?
