Event Dates : 25 - 27 November 2007

Submission Deadline : 28 NOV 2007

The International Conference organized by Koinoniko Polykentro, the Scientific Center of the Confederation of Public Employees in Greece. University Professors and Practitioners in the field of Public Administration (or Business Management, Political Science and International Relations with an interest in Public Administration) are participating in the above mentioned Conference, presenting their papers on the status of modernization or restructuring of the public administration system as well as the future trends in changing it in their respective countries.  More specifically, each participant presents the strategy his/her country is implementing for modernizing/restructuring its public management system with emphasis on issues such as:
  • Methodology to improve the management system of the public sector
  • Implementation of e-Government practices (Information and Telecommunication Technology), knowledge management
  • Implementation of planning (Strategic planning/Annual planning), evaluation, and organization practices in the public sector
  • Planning and implementation of quality management systems (ISO 9001:2000, ISO 14001, Total Quality Management, etc.)
  • Development-Empowerment of Human Resources
  • Education and continuous training of human resources
  • Development and promotion of public policies
  • Methods to enhance transparency and equality in the operation of the public sector (for all countries)
  • Methods to apply values and principles enforced by the European Union (for European Union member-states)
  • Fundraising methods and financial management
  • Marketing management and market research process
  • Public relations and publicity strategy
  • Any other issues related to changing the public management system

The conclusions of this Conference, in our opinion, may contribute to the acknowledgment of the upcoming changes (technological, managerial, social, economic, political, demographic, etc.) in the public sector and the determination of strategies needed to be implemented by the public management in order to adapt public organizations to those changes.
